Best Smartwatches for Stylish & Productive People (April 2017)
Best smartwatches are the ones that allow you to get information quicker than using your mobile devices, provide higher level of activity and health tracking and are still stylish enough to be worn on your body without looking too nerdy.
While smartwatches are still not as popular, they are quite useful for people to get information faster and improve productivity.
Smartwatches help you perform some tasks much faster and easier than the smartphones like reading emails, tracking fitness, getting news and weather forecast, etc.
Check out our list of best smartwatches that you can buy right now.
Samsung Gear S3 (Classic & Frontier)
Technology-giant Samsung has put in a great effort into Gear S3 line that offers classic and frontier versions which are very similar to each other in terms of internal specifications.
Powered by Tizen OS, these smartwatches pack 768 MB of RAM and 4 GB of storage. Both have Super AMOLED display which makes it easier to use them even under the sunlight.
As the name suggests, classic is an elegant office wear watch while the frontier is heavier and more sporty looking evening wear watch. The main differences are their looks and the LTE connectivity which is missing from the Classic version.
The main benefit of LTE is that you will be able to make calls without needing your smartphone to be around you. Since we always carry smartphones with us everywhere, you don’t have to buy the Frontier version just for this reason.
User Experience is quite good on these smartwatches due to the rotating bezel to scroll up and down. The speakers on the watch are not very useful in loud settings, but quite good for home or silent environment.
Alternatively, you can connect it to wireless headsets using WiFi which is useful for taking calls. Due to the rotating bezel which is used to scroll up and down, reading emails and SMS on these smartwatches are quite enjoyable and satisfying. It also has one of the best fitness-tracking features that organizes data into S Health app.
The only shortcoming, according to me, is the battery life which is claimed to be 2 days but in practice, you will have to charge it everyday. If you don’t mind charging your devices everyday, for $299 this feature-rich smartwatch is a great deal.
LG Watch (Sport & Style)
In my opinion, LG Watch could very well be the best smartwatch that you can buy right now. LG Watch Sports is bulkier, more expensive and has more features than LG Watch Style.
LG Watch Sport features AMOLED display which has 348 ppi resolution and is much sharper than Samsung Gear S3 which has a display resolution of 278 ppi. It has 768 MB RAM and 4 GB of on-board storage, much like the Samsung Gear S3.
Sport variant also has a 420 mAh battery and lasts more than 2 days on a single charge. It has LTE connectivity, built-in GPS for activity tracking like hikes and runs, optical heart rate monitor, IP68 water resistance rating and ability to support Android Pay.
LG Watch Style is a stylish watch which has lesser features, smaller battery and RAM than LG Watch Sport. There is no LTE connectivity or heart rate monitor. However, it is still worth buying if you don’t need a bulky features-rich watch around your wrist all the time.
Fossil Q Marshal Gen 2
Fossil Q Marshal Gen 2 is a smartwatch for those who prefer stylish looks and great build quality. It is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Wear 2100 SoC which is developed especially for wearable devices.
Large touch-screen display, smooth leather strap and fitness tracker to track calories and steps are some of its best features. However, the lack of heart rate monitor might be disappointing to many.
The battery life is just over 24 hours but still needs regular charging for a non-stop functioning as depending on the usage, it can be discharged pretty quickly. However, it has a magnetic wireless charging for convenient and quick charging.
Apple Watch Series 2
Apple Watch Series 2 is a well-designed smartwatch with high performing software and hardware specification. Due to features like maps, Apple Pay, and music, Apple Watch is a leading player in smartwatches market.
There are two variants available – 38 mm and 42 mm with 1.3 inch and 1.5 inch retina display of 340 ppi and 390 ppi resolution respectively. Both the watches are quite light and is a good option for those who prefer light watches.
Due to its unique rectangular shape, this watch might not appeal to everyone. There are several options for the band which you can buy and change your style regularly.
Series 2 has significantly improved performance (~50%) over the original version. And those looking to upgrade from the Series 1 will not be disappointed.
Motorola Moto 360 (2nd Gen.)
The original Moto 360 was considered to be one of the best Android smartwatches. And Motorola Moto 360 (2nd Gen.) is quite an improvement from the originals.
It has a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor which is one of the best for smartwatches. There are two variants that are available – 42 mm and 46 mm. There are slight differences like display resolution and battery size but the main difference is their sizes.
With high level of customization available with Moto Maker and different band options, this could be a fun watch to wear at any occasion.
